There’s something quaint and old-fashioned about a bed and breakfast. I just love it. Now, two North Carolina bed and breakfasts have been named one of the bets in the country by the travel experts at USA Today. The concept of the bed and breakfast is just so lovely, and these places always have fantastic breakfasts, so it’s still a very popular thing, even though it’s decades old.
North Carolina Bed and Breakfasts Among the Best
USA Today has a new tally out of the best bed and breakfast spots in America. The picks were first determined by their expert panel, and then, USA Today readers voted on their favorites. “If you’re looking to experience the charm and hospitality of a destination, staying at a bed-and-breakfast can be a great idea,” they note. “They offer a more intimate setting, where guests can get to know the hosts as well as other travelers,” USA Today said, adding that, “not to mention, you’ll enjoy a delicious home-cooked breakfast every morning, often featuring local specialties and fresh ingredients.”
So, what’s No. 1 on the tally? It’s the Winchester Inn in Ashland, Oregon. This place takes you back in time, according to the experts at USA Today, with “21 well-appointed guest rooms and suites located in the main house, Heritage House, Carriage House, or one of the two cottages.” They add that, “Guests of Winchester Inn can enjoy a two-course breakfast each morning, and, come dinner time, enjoy a meal at the on-site Alchemy Restaurant.” So, it’s really like a historic experience. “At the Winchester Inn, we believe that no detail is too small when it comes to making our guests feel treasured,” the inn adds.
As for North Carolina bed and breakfasts, the state has the No. 4 bed and breakfast on the list with C.W. Worth House Bed & Breakfast at 412 South 3rd Street in Wilmington. “This Queen Anne-style bed-and-breakfast has just seven rooms, giving it a cozy, intimate feel,” USA Today notes. They add that the bed and breakfast is close enough to downtown and the Wilmington Riverwalk that you can walk around downtown. Also, North Carolina has the No. 6 place on the tally with the Historic Magnolia House at 442 Gorrell Steet in Greensboro. They note that music greats, “including Tina Turner, James Brown, and Ray Charles have stayed at The Historic Magnolia House, and the property’s four guest rooms feature decor inspired by past guests.”
