Disturbed Encourage Fans to Write in David Draiman on Super Bowl National Anthem Poll
Disturbed is having a little fun with a reader poll on Billboard.com asking who should sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIV.
The poll features 15 artists including Mary J. Blige, Camila Cabello, Gloria Estefan, Post Malone, Pitbull and Brendon Urie. However, not a single rock artist is listed, but there is an “Other” option that allows readers to write-in a vote. Disturbed have shared the poll on their Facebook page along with the caption, “Let’s stir it up. Open link, type in ‘David Draiman’ in the other section, and click VOTE.”
This act isn’t just a form of rebellion; Draiman actually really does want to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. The Disturbed frontman told Loudwire, “I’ve dreamt of doing it my entire life. Been rehearsing it since I was a little boy. I love my country, and I would be honored beyond words to have the opportunity to try and inspire, strengthen, and give hope, at a time when we need those things more than ever. Plus…it would be nice to have rock represented on SOME level at the Super Bowl, and to prove to everyone that there ARE rock singers out there who can do the anthem as much justice as ANY pop artists out there, and even possibly take it higher.”
