Summer just got a little cooler in Fayetteville, as the City of Fayetteville officially opened the new Lake Rim Recreation Center Splash Pad on Tuesday.
Fayetteville City Council joined forces with the Kiwanis Club of the Cape Fear to cut the ribbon on the new facility, which is the 12th splash pad to open throughout Fayetteville and Cumberland County.
Council members Kathy Keefe Jensen and Larry Wright were among the officials on site who excitedly ran through the water with the kids on hand.
The splash pad is a zero-depth entry pad, and uses recycled water. The Kiwanis Club of Cape Fear donated $20,000 to help build the splash pad.
All of the splash pads are free to use throughout Fayetteville, and are generally open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 2-7 p.m. on Sundays.
“The splash pad is just one of many new additions in the western part of Fayetteville,” the City of Fayetteville said in a release. “Approximately four miles up the road, the Bill Crisp Senior Center is under construction beside Lake Rim and is scheduled to open later this summer. The Senior Center site is across the street from Lake Rim Park and Aquatic Center.”
