Paul Simon Becomes the Latest Musician to Sell His Songwriting Catalog
Paul Simon has sold his entire songwriting catalog to Sony Music Publishing joining the popular trend of other iconic musicians selling off their catalogs.
Per The New York Times, the catalog sale includes over 400 songs written by Simon from both his solo career and with Simon and Garfunkel. Among the songs in the catalog are “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound of Silence,” “Still Crazy After All These Years,” “The Boxer,” “Homeward Bound,” “I Am a Rock,” “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” “Graceland” and “Mrs. Robinson.”
The price tag of the deal wasn’t disclosed but considering the size of the catalog, it wouldn’t be shocking if this transaction was in the area of nine figures. In December 2020, Bob Dylan made headlines when he sold his entire songwriting catalog to Universal Music Publishing Group for reportedly north of $300 million.
