Fayetteville PWC Lifts Boil Water Advisory, Conservation Encouraged
After nearly two days under a boil water advisory, Fayetteville PWC says its customers can return to normal water consumption.
A water main break on Thursday led to nearly all of the Fayetteville-area customers being placed under the advisory, as a precaution. No water tested for any issues during that time period.
“After consulting with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), the advisory for PWC water customers has been lifted and it is no longer necessary to boil your water,” PWC said in a release. “Tests have confirmed water meets safe drinking water standards and can be used for any purpose.”
While normal usage is allowed, PWC did say that some cloudiness and discoloration could occur still. Customers should flush all water lines for several minutes, and all ice made during the last two days should be discarded.
“Businesses that serve or prepare food for human consumption should coordinate with their regulatory oversight agency to make sure all requirements are met.”
While PWC works on the lines, they also encouraged customers to conserve water usage temporarily.
“PWC thanks you for your patience and understanding during this event. Customers can help PWC by continuing to conserve their water usage while PWC addresses the ongoing situation.”
