Cumberland County Schools Going Remote Friday Due to Boil Advisory, Hurricane Impacts
With a boil water advisory in place, and the impacts of Hurricane Helene starting to hit Fayetteville, Cumberland County Schools has announced it will go remote on Friday.
“Out of an abundance of caution due to the possibility of inclement weather caused by Hurricane Helene and a boil water advisory issued by PWC affecting most schools, Cumberland County Schools will implement the following schedule adjustments to prioritize the safety of our students, employees and families.”
With a water main break, PWC has asked virtually everyone in its Fayetteville coverage area to boil water. That impacts drinking water and food preparation at the schools, CCS said.
Cumberland County Schools will have an asynchronous remote day on Friday, September 27. Students will work on independent timing on their assignments.
Additionally, all after-school activities for Friday have been canceled. Prime Time will also be closed on Friday.
Other School Impacts
- Bladen County Schools will also have an asynchronous remote day due to Hurricane Helene.
- Harnett County Schools already had a planned teacher workday.
- Moore County Schools closed for students Friday.
FTCC will also be closed Friday.
We’ll updated with any others as we learn them.
