Slash Offers Latest Update on Guns N’ Roses New LP
Slash offered a small update on a potential new album from Guns N’ Roses.
The guitarist told the Daily Star (h/t Music-News.com), “Guns N’ Roses are trying to make their own record, and I’m working with them in that capacity, but this [solo album] didn’t involve anyone else.”
The solo album in question is the recently released Orgy Of The Damned. The new Slash solo album features 12 tracks, ranging from blues classics to deeper cuts. The album, which is Slash’s sixth solo release, has a ton of guests on it. Among them are Brian Johnson, Steven Tyler, Billy F. Gibbons, Gary Clark Jr., Paul Rodgers, Chris Stapleton and many more.
A Brief Timeline on New Music/Guns N’ Roses New LP
GN’R has released four new songs in recent years, following Slash and Duff McKagan returning to the band. “Absurd” was the first new song and came out in August 2021. About a month later, the band released “Hard Skool.” The third song released was “Perhaps,” which came out this August 2023, and “The General” was released in December 2023. All four tracks are outtakes from the recording sessions of Chinese Democracy.
The fact fans have received four new songs from Guns N’ Roses feels like a minor miracle. In July 2023, stage tech Tom Mayhue hinted at more new music. He said, in part, “They’ve got a bunch of stuff recorded already.”
Buzz about new GN’R music started picking up steam in June 2023. Urban Sound Studios shared a photo of Axl Rose and Slash at the Oslo-based recording facility that has since been deleted. Loudwire notes the photo was captioned, “We got to hang out with these 2 rock legends in the studio today. Really cool guys! The band wanted a nice studio with a variety of speakers and headphones to listen to new mixes before they head for Glastonbury. It sounds awesome!”
Guns N’ Roses have been pretty tight-lipped over new music. The last notable comment came from Slash in October 2022. The guitarist said, in part, “I want to go in and cut a whole brand new record at some point. Probably sooner than later. But other than that, we have stuff [that’s still] got to come out. So that’s gonna be coming out piecemeal over the next… few months or something like that.”
