‘Almost Famous’ Broadway Musical Gets Open Date
The musical adaptation of Almost Famous will be hitting Broadway this fall.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Almost Famous will begin its Broadway run on September 13 with opening night set for October 11. The production will take place in a Shubert theater, but the exact theater will be announced on a later date.
As previously reported, the book and lyrics are by Cameron Crowe, who directed and wrote Almost Famous. The original music and lyrics are by Tom Kitt, who is best known for his work on the musical adaptation of the Green Day album American Idiot. Meanwhile, the production is directed by Jeremy Herrin.
Crowe announced he was working on the musical adaptation of Almost Famous back in September 2018. At the time, he said in a statement, “‘Almost Famous’ is such a personal thing for me. It’s always held a special place in my heart, not just because it’s about music and journalism and my family, but because it’s also about a lot of the indelible characters I was lucky enough to meet along the way. Some are still with us, many are gone, but the movie lives on as a kind of tribute to the power of the right song on the right day… it can change your life’s course in a single note.”
