Rod Stewart Pays Rod Stewart Impersonator to Record Message for Son’s Birthday
Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, celebrated the 26th birthday of Stewart’s son, Liam, with a video greeting from a Rod Stewart impersonator.
The gag gift, which the U.K.’s Daily Record reports cost £20 (about $28 USD),came via impersonator Michael Dean who goes by the name “Rud Stewart.” Dean performed two of Stewart’s classics in the video below: “Have I Told You Lately” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” He also prefaced the performance with a special message from Rod to Liam: “Happy birthday, Liam. You’re in my heart. Remember, no matter how old you feel, you’ll never be as old, pissed up or washed up as me, Rod.”
Liam is the youngest of two children Stewart had with ex-wife, Rachel Hunter.
While this gift is certainly unique and cheeky, this isn’t the first time Stewart has been involved with an impersonator. In January 2019, Stewart attended the 90th birthday party for his sister, Mary Cady, and she hired known Rod Stewart impersonator Stan Terry to perform at the party. Clearly, this whole impersonator bit must be some sort of inside joke within the family.
