‘Black Lives Do Matter’, ‘End Racism Now’ Painted Around Market House in Fayetteville
“Black Lives Do Matter” and “End Racism Now” are now painted prominently around the Market House in Downtown Fayetteville. The street mural was completed late Monday evening in the non-driving portion of the traffic circle in the heart of downtown.

The City of Fayetteville, in partnership with the Cool Spring Downtown District, commissioned the art installation as a showcase of unity in the community. The city said the project would cost around $3,000.
The Market House has been hotly debated in the community, as the site of the former historic State House. Two men have been arrested in connection with fires set at the Market House on May 30 after a day of protests throughout Fayetteville in response to the Minneapolis death of George Floyd during a police encounter. Floyd was born in Fayetteville. Charles Anthony Pittman and Andrew Garcia-Smith, both of Fayetteville, have been arrested and charged in the case.
Earlier in the week, work began on the black base paint around the traffic circle, with work being completed on the phrases “Black Lives Do Matter” and “End Racism Now,” on Monday night.
