Al Kaline, Baseball HOFer, Dies at 85
Baseball Hall of Famer Al Kaline has passed away today (April 6) at the age of 85. Details about his death have not yet been released.
Known as “Mr. Tiger,” Kaline became a member of the Detroit Tigers right out of high school in 1953 at the age of 18. The outfielder went one to become of the most successful players of his era.
Kaline, an 18-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove Award winner in right field, scored the American League batting title in 1955. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980, during his first year of eligibility.
