VIDEO: James Hetfield Performs at Eddie Money Tribute Concert
James Hetfield made a surprise appearance at an Eddie Money tribute concert that took place last night (February 20) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Metallica frontman performed the hit “Baby Hold On” before the crowd making it the first live performance from him since entering and leaving rehab. Per the video’s description on YouTube, Hetfield was actually a replacement for the previously announced Rick Springfield. As far as replacements go, that’s not too bad.
Hetfield opened the performance by telling the story of how he and Money met at an Oakland Raiders game where Money was singing the National Anthem. “He kinda blew me off, and I thought, ‘Who is is this pompous ass?’ So it was like two big dogs going in a circle around each other, which was kinda funny. I saw through it, I saw through that ego, and he saw through mine, and we got to be friends, because I think our egos matched the size of our insecurities.”
