Surviving Nirvana Members Headlining Upcoming Charity Show
Surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear will be headlining an upcoming charity show taking place Saturday, January 4 at The Palladium in Los Angeles.
“Heaven is Rock and Roll” will benefit The Art of Elysium, an arts organization that provides various programs to all ages in the Los Angeles community that are “in the midst of difficult emotional life challenges like illness, hospitalization, displacement, confinement, and/or crisis.”
Grohl, Novoselic and Smear will be joined on stage by Beck, St. Vincent and Grohl’s daughter, Violet. Also performing at the benefit show are Cheap Trick, Marilyn Manson and L7.
This will be the first time since Cal Jam ’18 on October 6, 2018 that Grohl, Novoselic and Smear share a stage together. During that performance, Novoselic joined the Foo Fighters on stage during the encore of their headlining set where they performed six Nirvana covers: “Serve the Servants,” “Scentless Apprentice,” “In Bloom,” “Breed,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “All Apologies.” John J. McCauley provided vocals on the first three songs, while Joan Jett sang the vocals on the final three songs.
While Grohl, Novoselic and Smear are billed for the event, there has been no official confirmation on if they’ll perform any Nirvana songs.
