DaBaby Detained by Police for Marijuana Possession Following Charlotte Concert
DaBaby was detained by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Monday evening (December 23) following a performance in town.
Local NBC affiliate WCNC reports the rapper was detained in the parking lot of the Bojangles Arena in Charlotte for possession of marijuana. CMPD said DaBaby was not arrested but was “detained and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and with resisting an officer.”
A rep for DaBaby told WCNC that CMPD was given a false tip about “guns and drugs” being in his car. DaBaby then accused CMPD of targeting him telling local media in the video below, “Every time. There’s nobody when I pull up in the parking lot, the second I get out the car, 15 cops come around — can I borrow your microphone? **Grabs mic** — Shining it into the car windows… they follow me, they pull us over for no reason…”
Before his show, DaBaby, who’s from Charlotte, delivered 200 toys to underprivileged children in the city.
