AEW Championship Belt: Tallahassee PD Issues Statement on Belt’s Recovery
UPDATE 9/4/2019 8:45 PM EDT: The AEW Wold Championship belt has been revealed to have been turned into authorities after being “found along a local roadway.”
In a statement shared by Pro Wrestling Sheet, the Tallahassee Police Department said the following:
“On Sunday September 1, 2019, TPD responded to 2400 North Monroe Street reference a theft. Officers learned that a championship belt, reported to be valued at $29,250, was stolen from a limo recently occupied by the belt’s owner. On September 4, 2019, a citizen returned the championship belt to TPD headquarters, reporting that it was found along a local roadway.
This case has been assigned to investigators with TPD’s Burglary Unit and is still an active investigation. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS. TPD will provide more information when it becomes available.”
The AEW belt is valued at nearly 30k?! Love to know how that price was determined, but nonetheless, at least the belt has been recovered after it’s wild journey. Perhaps it should celebrate with a little bit of the bubbly?

The story surrounding the theft of Chris Jericho‘s All Elite Wrestling (AEW) World Championship belt has taken an interesting turn thank to a Facebook post from the Tallahassee Police Department.
According to Tallahassee Democrat reporter Jeff Burlew, the Tallahassee Police Department’s Facebook shared the photo below saying they found the belt, but they then deleted the photo and said the investigation into the reported stolen belt was “open and active.”

News of the belt’s theft went viral last night (September 3) after the police report Jericho filed surfaced indicating the belt was potentially stolen when he left it in his limo, which drove him to dinner at a local Longhorn Steakhouse. The police report reads as follows:
“The victim reported the theft of his championship wrestling belt while he was eating inside Longhorn Steakhouse. The victim stated he arrived at the Millionaire Club Airport Terminal and place the belt inside his rented limousine. The limo driver shuttled the victim to Longhorn for dinner. The victim remained at Longhorn while the limo driver returned to the airport. The victim had taken the wrong luggage from the airport and the driver took it back to the terminal. When the driver picked up the victim from the restaurant, the belt was missing. Responding officers searched the limo and airport for the belt without success. On-call CID was consulted, and forensics responded to the scene.

To further add to the absurd situation, AEW released the video below of Jericho in a hot tub with #ALittleBitOfTheBubbly saying a “worldwide investigation” has been launched to find the belt, which only further drives home the sentiment from John Oliver that “Wrestling is better than the things you like.”
