Hurricane Florence Donation Distribution Event Planned Today
A Hurricane Florence Joint Disaster Relief Distribution event is planned for this Friday, Nov. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 504 N. McPherson Church Road, which is the former site of the U.S. Flea Mall. A select number of men’s apparel, women’s apparel, children’s apparel, shoes, food, underwear, socks and home good items will be distributed to individuals who were affected by Hurricane Florence.
The initial distribution day is set for Nov. 9. Future distribution dates will be determined based on how many are able to be served on Nov. 9. FEMA case numbers and photo IDs will be necessary for those applying for assistance. The affected individuals do not have to be from Fayetteville.
Caring for Others, Inc., Delivering Good, Inc. and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE) have teamed together to organize the event. The organizations have worked with Mayor Mitch Colvin and Manna Church, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Simon Temple AME Zion Church and True Vine Ministries to make this effort possible.
Affected individuals should fill out a Disaster Relief Voucher, which is available on the City’s website at www.fayettevillenc.gov/distribution, to let the event organizers know the needs of their families. The vouchers should be brought to the event and turned in at the registration table. Vouchers will also be available on-site for those not able to fill out forms in advance.
“Fayetteville, Spring Lake and other neighboring communities were profoundly impacted by Hurricane Florence and residents still have needs that this event can help to address,” Mayor Mitch Colvin said. “I am very grateful for the assistance and support that the organizers are providing to make this possible. It’s great to see so many people coming together to help those who need it most.”
