.Tropical Storm Michael will move northeastward across central
North Carolina this afternoon through mid evening, producing very
heavy rainfall.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of central North Carolina, including the following
  areas, Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham,
  Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax,
  Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Orange,
  Person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Vance,
  Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson.

* Through late tonight.

* Heavy rain will overspread central North Carolina from southwest
  to northeast through the day. The heaviest rainfall is expected
  to be over the Piedmont and western Sandhills, mainly along and
  west of Highway 1. Storm total rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches
  are expected in this area, with amounts of 1 to 3 inches
  expected east of Highway 1, over the Coastal Plain and eastern
  Sandhills. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are
  possible.

* These rainfall amounts and intensities may produce flash
  flooding, particularly in low lying and poor drainage areas, and
  near creeks, streams, and ditches. Flash flooding is also
  possible in urban areas and creeks that are susceptible to
  urban runoff issues, such as Crabtree and Buffalo Creeks.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should
flash flood warnings be issued.
