Robert Plant Announces Tour Dates, Releases New Track
Robert Plant will be hitting the road to support his new album, Carry Fire, albeit not until nearly four months after its October 13 release.
Plant and his Sensational Space Shifters band will launch a 12-date North American theater tour on February 9 in Raleigh, N.C., finishing March 2 in Los Angeles, with tickets going on sale Friday (September 29). Plant accompanied the tour announcement with the release of a new song from the album, “Bluebirds Over The Mountain,” following the previously released tracks “The May Queen” and “Bones Of Saints.
The Shape Shifters’ Justin Adams tells us that Plant and company look forward to getting on the road and playing with the material from both the singer’s solo releases and his Led Zeppelin catalog:
“That’s the lifeblood of the band is we just tweak things all the time, and I think the thing is Robert, y’know, why is he doing it? He’s doing it because he loves it and he’s kind of set up the band so that it’s not a sort of really kind of well-rehearsed show that just comes out and does the same thing all the time. He actually wants the creative fireworks to happen on stage then and there. He wants to be surprised and he wants to surprise us and for the excitement to happen right there on stage.”
Carry Fire is Plant’s 11th solo album and the follow-up to 2014’s Lullaby…and the Ceaseless Roar.
