Taylor Swift Puts Albums On Music Streams Night Before Katy Perry’s Album Drops
Oh, that “Bad Blood” beef is still on the grill and is delivering some burns.
After the huge beef stemming from “women pitting women against other women” using the song “Bad Blood,” on top of the unknown but known feud between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift came to a head once again when Katy Perry used the situation between her and Taylor Swift as a talking point for her Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden. She chronologized the incident and says she tried to talk to Taylor to make it right but got ghosted.

And while there wasn’t a peep from Taylor’s camp during the segment, the final strike was taken towards Katy Perry late last night, right before her album ‘Witness’ was said to drop the following morning. We woke up to headlines saying that Taylor had released all of her music, which she had initially pulled off of streaming services except Apple Music in 2014 as a result of her frustration of artists not being adequately paid for the streams.
All albums will now be on Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, and other streaming platforms, which might urge pop fans to dive into their favorites through her catalog over again, rather than listening to Katy Perry’s new album.
It’s become more and more prominent that Katy Perry is grasping at straws with avant-garde videos and strange performances (and even stranger dance moves), the enlistment of Migos and Nicki Minaj, as well as all of the appearances she’s made on late night TV in promotions. Headlines, like NYLON’s “Katy Perry Is Struggling To Stay Relevant—And It Shows”, is now painting the picture of Katy’s utter annoyance to her genre, even labeling her as far as calling her “insufferable, while Consequence of Sound says that ‘Witness’ is “perfectly competent, but by the second listen, your finger might be itching for the skip button.”
Personally, as a former fan of both of these artists, I am really getting tired of the petty stuff between the two of them. Sure it’s a little funny here and there, but looking at the full timeline of this feud, the “beef” needs to be let go. I’d rather see Kanye West feud with Taylor Swift on their issues because it’s far more warranted and comical. But either way, as we watch this all play out, I have to agree with NYLON’s sentiment that KP is really grasping for straws on what she thinks will work. And despite the fact that she’s had her late night gigs, the songs are pretty lackluster.
As much as it pains me to say, if you were to bet on a horse, and those horses were Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, Catastrophe will beat out that Dark Horse no matter what.
