Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves for the wild ride that is the 2024 election season! As the political circus unfolds, it’s essential to prioritize your sanity and well-being.
The 2024 presidential race has taken several surprising turns in recent months:
- President Joe Biden dropped out of his attempt at re-election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party candidate just 107 days before the election. This unprecedented move completely reset the Democratic campaign, with Harris now positioned as the much younger challenger to 78-year-old Trump and the potential first woman of color to lead a major party ticket.
- Donald Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt at a rally in July, after facing off against Biden in an unusually early first debate in June that raised concerns about Biden’s age and fitness for a second term.
- There is seemingly some potential for third-party candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to play a spoiler role and tilt the race in key battleground states, even though they have no chance of winning the Electoral College outright. Kennedy has made the ballot so far in Michigan, the one swing state where he could impact the outcome.
- Trump has faced a substantial number of criminal charges across multiple trials scheduled before the election. While he avoided having any start before the Republican convention, the legal uncertainties add a complex layer to the race.
- Despite the criminal charges, Trump remains locked in a tight race with Biden/Harris, with polls showing them running neck-and-neck nationally.
The next four months are sure to bring more unexpected developments in this already wild and unprecedented presidential election. But fear not, for I have compiled the ultimate self-care guide to help you navigate these turbulent times with a smile on your face and a spring in your step, (hopefully).
