There are still drive-in movie theaters in North Carolina YOU can visit.

I love a movie. The music, the camera angles, the performances, the way it makes you feel. Everything about them just makes the world better. I fell in love with movies at a young age. First one I can remember watching regularly was Aladdin.

My mom says after that I was running around the house calling her ‘Jafar’ whenever she would tell me to do something. A clearly opinionated 3 year old everyone. I was always intrigued by the movies and the process. It didn’t matter what kind. I would watch my old video tapes of all kinds of Disney movies and also watch the extra stuff some included and it was normal for my family to see a movie in the theaters.

The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Movie came out just before my 6th birthday. It was a whole event.

I remember first seeing the poster promoting the movie at the old movie theater that used to be at the mall and then they were promoting the movie on commercials for the tv show. I even got to stay up late on a school night (8PM WHAT!) to see the first real trailer. I will tell you my whole world changed seeing something I absolutely loved on day one. We even later ordered it on Pay Per View. Rented the tape from Blockbuster. I owned it on DVD. It’s not on digital which is a travesty but even if HBO randomly shows it or it comes on I catch myself watching it. I could probably play it in my head and remember every line.

Movies have a special effect on all of us. It takes you back to an exact moment in time. An age or time of your life that you forget after the years so I’m glad to still have these small connections in time. We put it out to our listeners on the 107.7 The Bounce Facebook Page and were not disappointed. We were looking for your comfort movie or specifically movies you have seen more than 5 times. So this is a list of some of those very rewatchable films/

  • Jurassic Park

Henry Wu: You’re implying that a group composed entirely of female animals will… breed?

Dr. Ian Malcolm: No. I’m, I’m simply saying that life, uh… finds a way.

Iconic. So good that we keep getting these movies. I mean Dinosaurs revolting against being in an Amusement Park is so simple it will always work and be watchable.

  • Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

White Goodman: Go ahead, make your jokes, Mr. Jokey… Joke-maker. But let me hit you with some knowledge. Quit now. Save yourself the embarrassment of losing with these losers in Las Vegas, La Fleur.

Peter La Fleur: Alliteration aside, I’ll take my chances in the tournament. White Goodman: Yeah, you will take your chances.

Peter La Fleur: I know. I just said that.

White Goodman: I know you just said that.

Peter La Fleur: Okay, I’m not sure where you’re going with this.

White Goodman: Well, I’m not sure where *you’re* going with this.

Peter La Fleur: That’s what I said.

White Goodman: That’s what I’m saying to *you*.

    Peter La Fleur: All right.

    White Goodman: …Touché.

    Enough said.

  • Friday

Mr. Jones: This is what makes you a man. When I was growin’ up, this was all the protection we needed. You win some, you lose some, but you live. You live to fight another day. And you think you’re a man with that gun in your hand, don’t you?

Hilarious iconic movie but this line really hit me. R.I.P. John Witherspoon!

  • The Godfather Trailer

Don Corleone: I hope you don’t mind the way I keep going over this Barzini business.

    Michael: No, not at all.

Don Corleone: It’s an old habit. I spent my whole life trying not to be careless. Women and children can afford to be careless, but not men.

Had an overwhelming amount of people list this movie which is crazy because of how long they were but….I get it.

  • The Temptations

David Ruffin: I’m the one sellin’ the records. They’re comin’ to see me.

Otis Williams: They’re comin’ to see the Temptations.

David Ruffin: Ain’t nobody comin’ to see you, Otis! You wish you could work it the way I do, but you can’t! Because there is only one David Ruffin. And without him, the Temps ain’t nothin’ but a group in SEARCH of a David Ruffin. Matter of fact, I been thinkin’. We should call the group David Ruffin And The Temptations. Yeah, that sound good to me. Y’all beggin’ me not to leave you. [sings]

David Ruffin: “And I refuse to let you go.” Yeah, David Ruffin And The Temptations. Whatcha think? Otis Williams: That ain’t never gonna happen.

This is an iconic movie for every black household. A mini-series/tv movie. We had the video tape and watched it so many times. Severely underrated.
