Fayetteville opened its doors on April 1 for residents to peek inside The Courts at Glenville Lake. The sneak preview ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 730 Filter Plant Drive, giving people their first glimpse before the official launch.

Visitors walked through the new tennis hub. They chatted with Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation staff about classes, leagues, and what's coming.

"There's still work happening, but we wanted to open the doors early so our community can see the progress and be part of the excitement as we get closer to opening," Mayor Mitch Colvin stated in a media release.

The 6,594-square-foot building will boast 11 tennis courts. One court will shine as a championship competition space. Four pickleball courts will sit alongside locker rooms, a lounge, a learning area, and a pro shop.

Kids and adults can sign up for lessons. Tournaments will happen here, too. Whether you've never held a racket or you've played for years, there's something waiting.

"We're looking forward to officially opening the center soon and will be planning a ribbon cutting in the near future," Mayor Colvin shared.

No date has been set yet. The preview lets people see construction progress before everything wraps up.

Parks and Recreation workers stood ready during the event to field questions. They explained programs, pricing, and how memberships work.

Pictures from the preview are now live in a gallery on the city's website, showing courts, indoor areas, and what else awaits at the venue.

The Courts at Glenville Lake adds fresh options for recreation in Fayetteville. That championship court? It means big matches could roll into town, drawing players and fans from across the region.
