Bladen Community College received a $1 million gift from Cape Fear Valley Healthcare to expand allied health programs and strengthen healthcare worker training across the region. The contribution extends a years-long collaboration between the two organizations.

"This partnership reflects the very best of what community collaboration can achieve," said Dr. Amanda Lee, president of BCC, in the Cape Fear Valley release. "Cape Fear Valley Healthcare has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to our students and our mission."

Cape Fear Valley will also provide instructional space at Bladen County Hospital. Students will train in actual clinical settings, gaining hands-on experience. The partnership includes emergency funds for students who face unexpected financial problems during their studies.

"Their support reflects a shared commitment to education, workforce development, and strengthening families as a foundation for the long-term health and economic vitality of our community," said Dennis Troy, chair of the Board of Trustees.

Before this major gift, the college faculty and staff voted to honor the healthcare system. They named it Partner of the Year. The recognition came after years of investments in full-time teaching positions, equipment purchases, and student aid.

The college will use the money to create the Cape Fear Valley Health School of Allied Health. The partnership earned statewide recognition through a Workforce Development Pinnacle Award from the North Carolina Community College System.
