Southeastern Community College Signs Transfer Agreements With Three NC Universities
Students who transfer get guaranteed admission. The schools are Western Carolina, N.C. State and UNC-Pembroke announced Monday.

Southeastern Community College has made deals with three North Carolina universities. Students who transfer get guaranteed admission. The schools are Western Carolina, N.C. State and UNC-Pembroke announced Monday.
The Connect programs let students who begin at SCC gain early access to four-year degrees. Western Carolina throws in $500 for tuition. N.C. State opens doors to more than 1,200 majors. UNC-Pembroke offers advising plus academic resources.
Dr. Robin Gary Cummings, chancellor at UNCP, signed the deal with SCC President Dr. Chris English at a ceremony in the Cartrette Building on campus on Nov. 7. English thanked all three institutions for stepping up.
"From the day I started here, it has been Dr. Cummings and UNCP that has stepped up to the plate every time," English said, according to Columbus County News. "I appreciate that, and that means a lot for Columbus County and our students."
The college sends many graduates to N.C. State. Officials think more will transfer as the agribusiness program at the community college expands.
"Southeastern is thrilled to be able to partner with North Carolina State University's Wolfpack Connect initiative," said Dr. Brandon Jenkins, SCC Executive Vice President. "The Wolfpack Connect will provide our transfer students with a guaranteed transfer opportunity to North Carolina's premier land grant university while allowing them to affordably complete their associate's degree at SCC."
Western Carolina has programs galore. Students can access them while working on their associate degrees. Jenkins said these deals help ensure Columbus County residents can meet their goals, whether professional or academic.
