Humpty Dumpty Beware: North Carolina Town Set To Drop Giant Egg For New Year’s
The city of Nashville, North Carolina is set to begin a new town tradition as they prepare to ring in the New Year with their first ever “Egg Drop.”
North Carolina has a long, rich history of dropping eccentric fixtures to ring in the new year. The city of Raleigh has the annual New Year’s Eve Acorn Drop, Marion does a Gold Nugget Drop, and Clay County even had an annual Possum Drop for New Year’s (until its cancellation a few years ago).
And now Nashville can join this quirky list when, on the night of New Year’s Eve, the city drops an eight-foot egg to ring in 2024.
The Egg Drop event is sponsored by Braswell Family Farms, an egg manufacturer based in Nashville, North Carolina. In a statement published by WUNC, the company’s president Trey Braswell expressed great enthusiasm for the event.
“Everybody around here is excited to have something like this to build up Nashville and Nash County,” said Braswell. “My goal is that we provide a safe, healthy, wholesome, family-friendly and really fun event on New Year’s Eve for families all around.”
The New Year’s Eve Egg Drop will take place Sunday, December 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Nashville Junction. In addition to the drop, families will also be able to live music, fireworks displays, food and beverage trucks, and raffles. The even will also feature fun activities like face painting, photo booths, cornhole set ups, and outdoor yard games.
With 2023 almost over easy, don’t be scrambled looking for some fun New Year’s plans. This event is definitely an egg-cellent way to celebrate, and that’s no “yolk.” Ring in 2024 with the sunny side up at Nashville’s first New Year’s Eve Egg Drop!
