It's been at least five months in the making, but the Great Grandsons Meat & Three quick-service restaurant on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville is finally open.

The quick-service fast food style restaurant at 2309 Gillespie Street, is a spinoff of the famous Fred Chason's Grandsons Buffet brand that is well known in the region. Fred Chason founded his first restaurant in Lumber Bridge in 1979.

"We want to thank you for your support. Numerous customers stopped by while we were preparing for this day," the company said in a Facebook post. "As a family establishment, we cannot tell you how thankful we are for you. Now we can’t wait for you to come in (or go through the drive-thru) and get some southern cooking!"

The location used to be a Hardee's that closed in recent years, but back in February of 2023 signage went up announcing the Great Grandsons location as "Opening soon." There is already a Great Grandsons location in Clinton that has been a success.

The restaurant will be open for breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Lunch and dinner hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday.

The breakfast menu features Southern favorites like country ham biscuits, sausage plates, grits, and more. The classic "meat and three" approach is in play for lunch and dinner, with plates featuring your choice of meat, two sides, and a roll or hushpuppies.

Tuesday's specials feature chicken and pastry, Wednesday is BBQ pork ribs, Thursday is smothered pork loin, Friday is fried catfish, and Saturday is stew beef with rice.
