North Carolina Residents Among the Best at These Important Skills
North Carolina is home to many great colleges and universities, which regularly top best-of lists. Now, as it turns out, North Carolina residents are among the best in America at some basic skills, according to a new study, and those are educational skills.
Preply.com has put together a list of the states with the best and worst rankings in grammar and spelling. “The last time most Americans were quizzed on their grammar skills was in high school. So after several years, do they still remember the basics?” they ask in the study. “In this study, we wanted to see which states rely on tools like autocorrect and which have committed grammar and spelling rules to memory. We surveyed more than 1,800 Americans and tested their knowledge.”
Before we get to our state, let’s look at the best states for grammar and spelling in the U.S. According to the study, California, Connecticut and Georgia were the only states to receive an A on their grammar skills. Moreover, residents in Virginia, Michigan and Tennessee got the lowest grammar scores.
Onto North Carolina. According to the research, North Carolina residents are the No. 7 best at spelling in America, tied with Georgia. The No. 1 state for spelling is New Jersey, followed by California and Wisconsin. Preply.com states, “In this study, we took some of the most commonly misspelled words and asked Americans to select the correct spelling. ” Also, North Carolina residents are the No. 8 best at grammar skills. No. 1 for grammar is California, followed by Connecticut and Georgia. The worst state in the U.S. for grammar was Michigan, followed by Kentucky and New York. The worst state for spelling was Maine.
