Wolfgang Van Halen on Dealing With Trolling Van Halen Fans
Wolfgang Van Halen is very active on social media. Unfortunately, he often deals with Van Halen fans that often troll his accounts for a variety of reasons.
Of course, Wolfgang never has a problem firing back and putting a troll in their place. (Admittedly, it’s part of the fun in following him on Twitter or Instagram.)
Case in point, Wolfgang’s mother, Valerie Bertinelli, shared the tweet below of a photo of her son performing on stage and pointing up to the sky. She captioned the image, “He’s so proud of you, Wolfie,” which, of course, is a nod to his late father, Eddie Van Halen.

This led to one Twitter user to respond, “Wolfie sure has been vulgar towards his Dad’s fans. You’re so nice and he’s telling people to fu*k off about playing his Dad’s music, like somehow everyone is just an a*shole. Used to be such a fan, now it’s like, cra cra like all the rest! So Sad..like it’s not a thing EV is Dad.”
Wolfgang, in turn, quote tweeted this user and said, “It’s always a–holes that have a problem with me telling a–holes to f— off.”
Wolfgang then explained in a thread the annoying aspects of these trolls and why he doesn’t take any of their guff.
He begins, “The thing about VH fans like this is that by ‘being nice to fans’ they mean, deal with the unwarranted daily attacks from bitter 50 + year olds, which I’m just not gonna do. If someone’s being an a–hole to me, I’m gonna make a joke and/or tell em to f— off. Deal with it bro.
He continues, “Imagine your dad dies, and then legions of people with him as their profile picture say horrible s— to you all the time. That’s social media for me. It’s as if by being a Van Halen fan for however long, they think they’ve somehow bought stock in my existence and can tell me how I should be living my life, how my relationship with my father was, and how I should be honoring him.”
He adds, “It’s f—ing weird, dude. I’m just on here tryna have a good time, live my life, use this stupid app and share stuff with you guys. I ain’t got time for the bulls—, so I’m gonna turn it into something fun for me by making fun of the dips—s because they make it SO EASY. If by being so available on here means people will misconstrue my intentions, take things I say out of context to use against me, and get the wrong idea about me in general then so be it. I know what I’m about and nobody can change that.”
Wolfgang succinctly concludes, “So basically f—that guy is what I’m trying to say haha.”
So, what did we learn today? If you think you’re going to show up in Wolfgang Van Halen’s mentions and get away with being disrespectful, expect to be owned big time.
