David Lander, Squiggy from ‘Laverne & Shirley,’ Dies at 73
David Lander, the actor best known for playing Squiggy on the classic sitcom Laverne & Shirley, has died. He was 73.
Lander’s death was confirmed to Variety by his family. The cause of death was due to complications related to multiple sclerosis, which Lander was diagnosed with in the early 1980s and went public in 1999.
Lander played Andrew “Squiggy” Squiggman for eight seasons on Laverne & Shirley from 1976-1983. Michael McKean, who played Lander’s on-screen best friend on the series Lenny Kosnowski, shared an old photo of the duo as a tribute following news of Lander’s passing.

Following the series finale of Laverne & Shirley, Lander had steady work as an actor including a number of animated voice roles and guest spots on various television series like The Love Boat, Matlock, Married…with Children, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Twin Peaks and The Nanny.
