Vietnamese Factory Busted For Recycling Used Condoms And Reselling Them
A factory in Vietnam is in major hot water over its “recycling practices.”
According to the New York Post, the company was caught washing and reselling over 320,000 used condoms and passing them off as new. They were busted over the weekend during a police raid.
The outlet explains precisely how they got away with this operation. They state that an employee, Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, allegedly had roughly 1,000 used condoms delivered monthly to a facility in Tan Uyen Town. Afterward, she cleaned and reshaped them.
“Pham remolded the jimmies with a wooden shaft to make them look fresh again — then placed them in new packaging.”
Although during the raid, 324,000 used condoms were seized, officials say that thousands had already been sold to unsuspecting customers. This is a problem because, of course, washing and reusing condoms leads to disease and infection.
In a statement about the operation, government officials said, “Condoms are classified as medical items, so we will take a look at the several laws that the owner has broken.”
