Amazon Is Launching Alexa-Equipped And Cashier-less Supermarkets
The future is here. Per the New York Post, Amazon has announced that they are opening a high-tech supermarket that will be equipped with sensors and cameras that will allow customers with shopping carts to have a cashier-less experience.
The technology used for this is called Amazon Dash Carts. This is a smart grocery cart where the store’s sensors can track items inside a cart, and customers will be able to exit the store without stopping to pay a cashier. Afterward, they will be billed automatically.

The New York Post adds that these Amazon Fresh supermarkets will feature counters equipped with Amazon Echo devices, which will allow them to ask the Alexa voice assistant questions about the store.
The first of these stores is currently open in Los Angeles in the Woodland Hills neighborhood. There will also be other locations around California and also in Chicago.
The Amazon Fresh stores will be similar to the 26 Amazon Go stores that are already up and running. Those sell food and items similar to what is available at a 7-Eleven or a gas station. The Amazon Go stores also already have cashier-less technology.
