‘The Lost Boys’ Musical In The Works, Could Premiere in 2021
A musical adaptation of the 1987 cult classic The Lost Boys has long been in the works, but the production might be hitting the stage sooner than later.
In an interview with Syfy, musician G Tom Mac who’s behind The Lost Boys musical said the production is “nearly done” and, “We were looking at late 2021, like the fall. But [now] we’re looking at 2022.”
All the music attached to the musical can be heard on Spotify. For those looking for some visual elements, there’s a Lost Boys musical YouTube channel with some preview videos to check out.
The 1987 film was directed by Joel Schumacher, who died last month from cancer. Before he passing, however, Schumacher was a big supporter of the musical with Mac saying, “There was nobody more engaged with my musical over the past few years. He understood musical theater and we would have many conversations. I knew he was ill, but he’d get on the phone for two to three hours and go over notes and various things. He was just a wonderful human being. Intense, but that was part of his incredible personality. Great guy, I certainly miss him.”
