Rob Halford on Judas Priest’s Rock Hall Nomination
Judas Priest received their second Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nomination yesterday (October 15), and frontman Rob Halford is, once again, pleased with the recognition and for representing heavy metal.
Halford said to Billboard, “It’s just another thrill, again, to be nominated and so quickly because I know sometimes the nominations can get stretched out for quite a long period of time. So to get another one so quickly is wonderful and another great moment for the Priest and for our fans.”
The Rock Hall has received much criticism over the years over their lack of heavy metal inductees, and Halford acknowledged that by saying, “…but the fact that Priest is here again speaks volumes about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame respecting heavy metal music, especially British heavy metal music. I’m so thrilled to be in esteemed company [of Motorhead and Thin Lizzy] because both of those bands have their roots back in the UK.”
The 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction class will be announced in January 2020.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2020 Induction Ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, takes place at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2, 2020.
The Rock Hall fan vote will last through January 10, 2020 at 11:59 PM EST. The top five artists from the fan vote will make up the “fans’ ballot” and be counted among the other ballots from the Rock Hall voting committee. Fans can vote for artists in three different ways:
-By searching “Vote Rock Hall 2020” or any nominee name plus “vote” on Google to cast a vote
-By voting at RockHall.com
-By voting in person at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland
