Notorious B.I.G. Might Be On The Next Rock Hall Ballot
The Notorious B.I.G. might be on the next Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot. In a recent interview with Cleveland.com, John Sykes, the incoming chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation talked about how the foundation needs to be more diverse. He also mentioned that Notorious B.I.G. was nominated to be placed on the new ballot.
“I look at rock ’n’ roll as at one time Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters and Sam Cooke, all the way through to today, with Green Day to a hip-hop artist,” Sykes said.
“We consider all artists, and usually get a pretty diverse mix to finally get in,” he said, noting the nominations of Notorious B.I.G, T. Rex, and Depeche Mode.
Nominations for the Rock Hall Foundation’s Class of 2020 won’t be officially released until later this month, so fans of the “Juicy” rapper will have to wait for it to be revealed to see if Biggie actually made the cut. Other hip-hop artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame include Tupac Shakur, N.W.A., Public Enemy, Run-D.M.C., the Beastie Boys and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
