Friday Morning Dorian Update: Schools, Colleges, Sports, Shelter and Government Updates
With Hurricane Dorian now past our general area, here’s a final update on where things stand in our region.
—SCHOOLS:
The Cumberland County Schools are closed today. Wed., Oct. 16 will now be a full day of school. Mon., Oct. 21 will be a make-up day.
-Hoke County will operate on a 3-hour delay today
-Robeson County Schools are closed today
-Sampson County Schools are closed. Information regarding Friday will be posted as it becomes available.
—COLLEGES:
-Central Carolina Community College opens at 11am
-FTCC & the FTCC Children’s Center opens at 10am
-Methodist University is closed today
-Southeastern Community College is closed today
—SPORTS:
-Cumberland County Schools’ High School Football Games will be played on Monday, September 9, according to the following schedule:
Lee County at Douglas Byrd — 6:00 p.m.
Pine Forest at Jack Britt — 6:00 p.m.
South View at Purnell Swett — 6:00 p.m.
Seventy-First at E.E. Smith — 6:00 p.m.
West Johnston at Gray’s Creek — 6:30 p.m.

-City of Fayetteville:
-Garbage collection resumes today. No bulky pickup today.
– FAST Transit Services begins operating at noon
– The Fayetteville-Cumberland Recreation offices, facilities and activities are closed
-CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
-Cumberland County offices will operate on a normal schedule
-Cumberland County landfill and container sites will be open Friday from noon to 4 p.m. The landfills and sites will have extended hours on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-The Cumberland County Fair reopens at 5:00pm for Military and Emergency Services Night. All Military and First Responders will receive free admission to the Cumberland County Fair in uniform or with valid ID.
-Cumberland County shelters – 134 were assisted – The shelters will begin closing procedures after breakfast as the inclement weather has passed.
-Ray and Mason Avenues were closed as a precaution because of rising waters along the Cross Creek.
-All flights at Fayetteville Regional Airport were canceled last night. Travelers should contact their airlines for further information. Car rental services at the airport are open today on regular schedules.
-Town of Hope Mills operates on a 2 hour delay
-ROBESON COUNTY:
-Robeson County offices including the courthouse are closed
-Lumberton City Hall is closed
-Robeson County Solid Waste Collection Sites are closed – Robeson County Solid Waste collection sites are closed. For people dropping off waste outside the collection sites while they are closed there is a $250 fine per incident.
-2 shelters open in Robeson County. Lumberton High School in Lumberton and Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke. If residents need a ride to the shelters they can call SEATS at (910) 272-5873.
-BUSINESS:
– Bragg Mutual Federal Credit Union will be on 2-hour delay Friday September 6th 2019 at all locations.
– HealthPlex will open at 9 a.m. Cardiopulmonary Rehab Phase 3 Maintenance programs held at HealthPlex will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.
-Sumitomo Machinery Corp. of America office & show will be closed for 1st shift today. Decision will be made by 12:30pm regarding 2nd shift for Friday evening.
