Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford Perform on Stage for First Time in 12 Years
Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford gave fans at Collins’ show in Berlin this past Friday (June 7) quite a treat by performing together on stage for the first time in 12 years.
The two Genesis bandmates performed “Follow You Follow Me” from their 1978 album …And Then There Were Three… The performance was pretty convenient since Rutherford’s band Mike + The Mechanics opened for Collins, but it was still a big moment since the last time they shared a stage was the 2007 Genesis reunion tour.
Of course, this moment only adds to the lingering buzz that Genesis could stage another tour, especially since Collins has been touring again. The last comment in the press about any potential reunion came via Rutherford when he appeared on Good Morning Britain in March. When asked about a possible reunion, he said, “I’ve always said, for years, never say never and we did the [reunion] tour 10 years ago… Who knows? Phil [Collins] is in good shape now out touring, his son [Nic] is drumming – fantastic drummer. Never say never…We’re all fit and healthy and we get on well, [we’re] good friends. I mean, you never know.”
