Universal Announces New Film Inspired By Prince’s Music
What Across The Universe was for The Beatles and Mamma Mia was for ABBA, the newest film project from Universal Picture is aiming to do the same but with Prince.
The film studio has announced it has acquired the rights to some of the late artist’s iconic tracks and is planning to make a film musical inspired by those songs. The film in question won’t be a biopic (because, in essence, that’s what Purple Rain was), but a new fictional tale.
The project is still in the early stages of pre-production, but Troy Carter, the entertainment advisor of Prince’s estate, has been tapped as an executive producer, as well Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group Jody Gerson.
This is definitely a project with massive potential, so we’ll keep our (3rd) eye (girl) on this one for future updates.
