Def Leppard News Round-Up: “Personal Jesus” Cover, Story Behind “Let’s Get Rocked”
Def Leppard is cranking out the videos as of late in the lead-up to the release of their new “best-of” set The Story So Far.
Featured on that set is the band’s cover of the Depeche Mode classic “Personal Jesus,” which also received a striking black-and-white music video treatment that can be viewed below. The cover doesn’t deviate too far from the source material, but there are definitely some sonic Def Leppard touches, especially when the track opens with a big vocal on the first lyric of “Reach out and touch faith.”
The other video Def Leppard just released is the second episode of the band’s “The Stories So Far” web series, which recounts the stories behind their biggest hits. On this episode, Phil Collen delves into the story behind “Let’s Get Rocked” from the 1992 album Adrenalize, from the band coming to grips with the passing of Steve Clark to the changing musical landscape of the early ‘90s.
