When sharing her backstory, Darci Lynne explained that she got into ventriloquism as a way to help her overcome shyness. On her 10th birthday, she asked her parents for a puppet. Two years later, she graced the America's Got Talent judges and audience with a performance no one was expecting.
When the performance was over, the judges had nothing but compliments for the 12-year-old. After getting over the disbelief that she had only been doing this for 2 years, judge Mel B gave Darci Lynne the surprise of her life: the golden buzzer.
For those who don't know what the golden buzzer means, each judge gets one chance to use the golden buzzer the entire season. If the golden buzzer is pressed, the act goes straight through to the live shows.
After Mel B pressed the buzzer, there were tears, cheers, and jumps of joy.
Make sure to check out Darci Lynn's audition below, and tune in to America's Got Talent Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC!
